Our first product development targets the epidemic of package theft, or porch pirates, who steal packages from the front stoops, porches & patios of home dwellers. This "portable" solution doesn't require any cutting, drilling, or permanence.

- (27%) say they have sent their packages to their workplace or a relative’s home
- While 42% say they stay at home on days they expect a delivery.
- Roughly half of the respondents (49%) believe delivery companies are not doing enough to prevent package theft and 45% do not believe retailers are doing enough either.
- The majority of those surveyed (85%) say they track their purchases throughout the delivery process.

The moment a package is stolen from your front door, a significant environmental impact is felt in order to replace the product stolen from your home

- The cost of lost or stolen packages ends up being factored into the price of a product. With supply challenges and the effects of inflation, can Americans afford to keep having packages stolen? MilkChute®
The original milkchute was a box, or cutout, that allowed "in-home" milk deliveries. The milk person would open the door to the milkchute, which was often a permanent built-in feature of the home, to be put into a semi-secure storage space until the homeowner could retrieve it. While not entirely secure, it was a non-technical alternative to leaving your milk deliveries on the back porch. We live in different times, however. It is challenging to imagine someone walking by the house back then and stealing someone's milk. Today, as you've learned here, porch pirates will steal anything from a home dweller, even while the delivery representative is standing right there. Therefore, the 21st century MilkChute® must entirely secure and protect home deliveries, yet allow various services the access required to maintain chain of custody in the event that the home dweller is unable, or unwilling to accept the package in person.
